By placing an order with The Bitter Tart, you agree to the following terms — no snoozing, they’re important.
Custom Orders: All custom cakes are baked with love, sass, and a whole lot of butter. Each one is made to order and priced individually, starting from $180. Fancy flourishes like vintage piping, florals or gold leaf incur extra charges — but you’ll always get a quote before I fire up the oven.
Deposits & Payment: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date. No deposit = no cake. The balance is due the week of your event unless otherwise agreed. Until your deposit is paid, your booking is not confirmed (and I might just say yes to someone else’s tiramisu fantasy).
Lead Times: For customs, I typically need 2–4 weeks’ notice. For weddings, please reach out 3–6 months ahead. I’m a one-woman sugar show — last-minute miracles aren’t guaranteed, but you can try your luck.
Design & Inspiration: Send inspo pics, moodboards, or chaotic Pinterest boards my way — I love them. But please note I don’t copy other bakers’ work. Your cake will be inspired by your vision, but it’ll be unapologetically Bitter Tart.
Allergies & Dietary Needs: I offer some gluten-friendly and dairy-free options, but my kitchen handles all the usual suspects (gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts). If you have a severe allergy, I recommend sourcing from an allergy-safe kitchen — no hard feelings, just safety first.
Delivery & Pickups: I bake from a registered kitchen in Ballarat, VIC. Pickups are by appointment only — no walk-ins. Delivery is available for most orders (especially weddings), and fees vary depending on distance and stress level.
Tastings: Wedding tasting boxes are available a few times a year and tend to sell out faster than a 90s boy band tour. Keep an eye on socials to avoid heartbreak.
Changes & Cancellations: Minor design changes may be accommodated up to 5 days prior to your event. Cancellations result in forfeiture of your deposit. If you cancel within 7 days of your event, the full amount may still be payable.
