Three layers of Rich, fudgy chocolate cake layered with juicy cherries and lashings of whipped cream. Decadent, dramatic and definitely not here to behave.

I do offer some gluten-friendly and dairy-free options, but my kitchen is full of all the usual suspects (gluten, dairy, nuts, sass). If you have severe allergies, I may not be your girl. I like to sleep at night!
Every cake is baked with love (and a little sass), so I need a bit of notice to make the magic happen:
Deluxe Cakes – 1 week’s notice
Cakes & Tarts – 3 days’ notice
Custom Cakes – 2–4 weeks’ notice
Wedding Cakes – 3–6 months’ notice
I’m a one-woman sugar show, and dates fill fast — so don’t ghost me and expect cake. The sooner you get in touch, the better chance we have of turning your dream dessert into reality.
By placing an order with The Bitter Tart, you agree to the following terms — no snoozing, they’re important.
Custom Orders: All custom cakes are baked with love, sass, and a whole lot of butter. Each one is made to order and priced individually, starting from $180. Fancy flourishes like vintage piping, florals or gold leaf incur extra charges — but you’ll always get a quote before I fire up the oven.
Deposits & Payment: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date. No deposit = no cake. The balance is due the week of your event unless otherwise agreed. Until your deposit is paid, your booking is not confirmed (and I might just say yes to someone else’s tiramisu fantasy).
Lead Times: For customs, I typically need 2–4 weeks’ notice. For weddings, please reach out 3–6 months ahead. I’m a one-woman sugar show — last-minute miracles aren’t guaranteed, but you can try your luck.
Design & Inspiration: Send inspo pics, moodboards, or chaotic Pinterest boards my way — I love them. But please note I don’t copy other bakers’ work. Your cake will be inspired by your vision, but it’ll be unapologetically Bitter Tart.
Allergies & Dietary Needs: I offer some gluten-friendly and dairy-free options, but my kitchen handles all the usual suspects (gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts). If you have a severe allergy, I recommend sourcing from an allergy-safe kitchen — no hard feelings, just safety first.
Delivery & Pickups: I bake from a registered kitchen in Ballarat, VIC. Pickups are by appointment only — no walk-ins. Delivery is available for most orders (especially weddings), and fees vary depending on distance and stress level.
Tastings: Wedding tasting boxes are available a few times a year and tend to sell out faster than a 90s boy band tour. Keep an eye on socials to avoid heartbreak.
Changes & Cancellations: Minor design changes may be accommodated up to 5 days prior to your event. Cancellations result in forfeiture of your deposit. If you cancel within 7 days of your event, the full amount may still be payable.
Wholesale & Markets: I do both! If you’re a café looking to serve something special (and nostalgic), email laura@thebittertart.com.au to chat cake dreams. Market appearances are announced on Instagram — come early, I sell out fast.
Still unsure? Email laura@thebittertart.com.au — I’m happy to help. Just don’t expect me to answer while elbow-deep in buttercream. 💋🍒
